Lily started her career as a secondary school teacher in Shanghai, teaching English and Environmental Science as a bilingual subject. She became Head of English and Director of International Exchange and Cooperation. After 11 years she moved to the UK where she initially taught Chinese to primary and secondary school students before becoming an education advisor with Essex County Council, one of the UKs largest Local Authorities with responsibility for more than 600 schools. As Essex-Jiangsu Education Manager she developed and managed many successful projects for primary, secondary and special schools in both China and the UK.
Lily gained an M.Ed from Cambridge University prior to moving into the education business sector. She worked for EdisonLearning, an international education company during which time she helped create, in partnership with Wake Forest University, the ‘Edison Advantage Programme’, a 21st Century skills based curriculum designed to support Chinese students gain places in the top US colleges.
Lily is currently a Director of Excellence First Enterprise Consultancy Ltd. As a native Chinese speaker with specialist knowledge and expertise of all education sectors in both China and the UK, Lily provides high level advice, guidance and facilitation and support to local authorities, schools, further and higher education institutes in the development of educational, cultural and business partnerships between the UK and China. She is highly experienced in developing reciprocal intercultural understanding between clients that is so critical for successful global partnerships.
