On April 9, the Tesla energy storage super factory project was inaugurated in the Lingang New Area.
The Tesla Energy Storage Gigafactory will plan to produce Tesla’s ultra-large commercial energy storage battery (Megapack). The initial plan is to produce 10,000 commercial energy storage batteries per year, with an energy storage scale of nearly 40GWh. The product range covers Global Market.
The Tesla energy storage super-factory project is scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2023 and put into production in the second quarter of 2024.
This signing is an important measure for Tesla to improve its global production layout and implement the vision of accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy. It will promote the development of Shanghai’s new energy storage industry and its green and low-carbon transformation.
And the policy of using foreign capital to create a market-oriented, legalised and internationalized business environment will help boost the confidence and strength of foreign-funded enterprises to invest in China.
The Lingang New Area has formed an industrial chain layout in the industrial field of wind-light-hydrogen-electricity-manufacturing-storage-use. Focusing on blade manufacturing with high technical barriers, it has a group of world-renowned wind power industry enterprises such as Siemens Gamesa, Shanghai Electric, and Aigang Wind Power; in the field of photovoltaic materials and equipment, it has China Electric Equipment Group, Hongbo New Energy , Ideal Wanlihui, Sige New Energy; in the field of new energy hydrogen energy, more than 30 enterprises such as Cummins, Shaanxi Dechuang, Hydrogen Technology, Tangfeng Energy.
