As a committed and delighted member of Medilink Midlands, EFEC attended the annual Awards Evening in Leicester this week.
The event is a very popular fixture in the calendar for Medilink Midlands members, showcasing their great successes in developing the highly advanced UK life sciences industries.

So what were the three big takeaways for this year’s event?
First, there is a very important connection that underpins the life sciences industries. This is the way research departments of prestigious universities work with entrepreneurs, investors and technicians to realise the value of their insights and discoveries. In such cooperation are found the remedies, therapies and cures for many challenging medical conditions.
Second, that there is a wide range of companies each of which has a part to play in the life sciences industries. The focus of the life sciences companies is itself broad – from devices that assist recuperation, through support systems for people suffering mental illness to ways of limiting the impacts of life’s age-related changes. And they work with all ties in support of their endeavours – law forms, accountants, investors, PR and marketing firms, for example.
Finally, the really clever thing about Medilink Midlands is the way it supports networked innovation so successfully. This is via direct introductions for one company to another through to the wide range of events that brings companies together, to be reminded of – and excited by – their shared objectives for finding new ways to deal with old and new problems.
