What counts as an entry route into work?

Entering a workplace and encountering professional practice can be quite different experiences. A placement may show a young person where work happens while leaving much of the reasoning behind it out of view, including how decisions are reached under uncertainty and how judgement forms.

This article asks what young people are actually able to observe once an experience begins. It draws on the updated statutory careers guidance and the changing profile of apprenticeships in England, alongside observations from EFEC’s own learning activity.
